As winter approaches and our epic Tahoe peaks get that sweet snow cap, the stoke is real, my friends! It’s time to unleash the spirit of hard-charging, free skiing. So, let’s take a moment to look back at last season’s top moments that still give me the chills. Remember, on those deep days, sometimes you just have to full send it! Who knows when the conditions will come together like that again? Let’s dive into the unforgettable highlights that remind us why we love this wild ride!
Let’s rewind to January 10th, 2024—a day that started like any other but turned into a scene straight out of a movie. Picture this: the KT22 chairlift buzzing with excited skiers, and then, out of nowhere, a devastating avalanche erupts. It was totally unpredictable, catching a handful of people in its chaotic wake. Tragically, it claimed the life of a 66-year-old gentleman.
This incident serves as a harsh reminder that Olympic Valley can be an unforgiving beast, but it’s also the ultimate playground for outdoor enthusiasts. It’s a wild juxtaposition—a place where beauty and danger coexist, reminding us to respect the mountains while we embrace all the thrills they offer.
No. 2 on our list has to be the jaw-dropping double backflip off a cliff near Granite Chief Peak, performed by the one and only Noah Gaffney. This video lives rent-free in my head—it’s a masterpiece! The amount of air he got and the timing was absolutely perfect. After a few valiant attempts, Noah finally stuck the landing like a boss. If you haven’t seen it yet, give it a like to show your support for this epic moment!
No. 3 on the list is all about the Mothership chair at KT22, which is hands down the best lift in all of North America when you factor in the hero factor of skiing the Fingers. Just check out this line skied by Miles Clark from @Snowbrains—it’s pure magic! He flawlessly executed the Main Air Double, just to the right of Box Chute. Watching him navigate that line with such fluidity totally amps up my stoke levels!
No. 4 on our list is a heart-pounding POV from the Eagles Nest, expertly skied by Aaron Fox. Now, let me tell you, some folks out there might say this is the hardest line to ski at Palisades Tahoe, and for good reason! The Eagles Nest isn’t just a name; it’s a beast of a run that demands respect.
No. 5 Cork Screw Line from SkiTnB on Youtube. This zone is one of my favorite, it holds snow really well, it doesn’t get skied much, it’s really steep, and a lot of fun,
No. 6 A Silverado Powder Line from Snow Brains. If you wake up early enough and are hard core, skiing Silverado on a powder day can be a highlight of season. This line gets me STOKED!
