5 Spring Cleaning Tips
Spring is finally here. Time to get outside and start enjoying the outdoors again. But before time gets away from all of us, we must not forget about all the time spent cooped up inside all winter long. That’s right, now that spring has sprung it’s time for dreaded spring cleaning.
Thinking about all the nooks and crannies that need to get dusted or vacuumed can be a bit overwhelming, it doesn’t have to be. Everyone has that one thing, like cleaning the oven, they want to avoid or may tell themselves “I will clean that next time” but never gets done. This is the best time to dive in and tackle those hard to reach areas that will leave your home sparkling for months to come.
Tips to Remember
1. Make a schedule
Deep cleaning your entire home can be very daunting. The good news is you do not have to do an entire deep cleaning all in one day. Take a look around your house and break it up into sections and make a schedule. This allows you to complete this very large task over the course of a few days or weekends and not eat up all your hard earned weekend.
2. De-clutter
Having a cluttered home can inadvertently add stress to your already busy life. Look around every room and make a list of the items that clutter your living space. It is also important to not forget about the famous junk drawer. Then decide what items you want to keep and what items can be stored or donated. And, if you are like so many others out there, this is the perfect time to put away the one or two holiday decorations that were missed in January.
3. Work your way down
No one likes to do double the amount of work and with this lovely thing called gravity, it is important to start at the top and work your way down. This means wiping those cleaning fans/ light fixtures and checking the corners for the cobwebs you’ve been staring at all winter long first. Once the hard to reach areas have been addressed, you can start working on the surfaces then flooring.
4. Clean room by room
The most effective way to spring clean a home on a schedule is by doing it room by room. Before starting a room, use your schedule and make a checklist of all the deep cleaning that needs to be done in each room. Focus on the areas that get skipped in the winter and feel free to skip the areas that were recently cleaned or are cleaned on a regular basis.
5. Have fun!
Spring cleaning is very much dreaded by everyone, but it doesn’t have to be. To keep yourself motivated you have to have fun with it. Pop in your headphone and listen to a podcast or tell Alexa to play your favorite playlist and dance around while cleaning. Not only is this a great way to make cleaning enjoyable but it can also turn it into a miniature workout.
